About CLAT exam 

Common-Law Admission Test (CLAT) is the national level exam to offer admission into twenty-two NLUs (National Law Universities). CLAT is conducted by a consortium of NLUs which was formed in March 2019. The test can be attempted after the higher secondary exam or any other equivalent exam for admission to an integrated undergraduate degree in law (B.A.LL.B). Only Indian Nationals and NRIs can appear for the test with minimum marks of 45% in aggregate.

Exam Pattern 


  • The CLAT question paper consists of 150 multiple-choice questions carrying 1 mark each and 0.25 marks for every wrong answer.

  • The entrance exam is of 2-hour duration in online or CBT (Computer Based Mode).
